Founded in Düsseldorf, Dreidoppel is a long-established company specialising in the development and manufacture of fruity and sweet flavours, flavour preparations and stabilisation systems for industrial and artisanal processors. The wholly owned subsidiary of the internationally active IREKS Group continuously invests in its Langenfeld site. With its new, state-of-the-art spray drying plant, which can also be used for contract spray drying, Dreidoppel is now expanding its technological capabilities. The particularly high-quality and stable spray-dried powder flavours are marketed under the SprayDREI brand.
Good things happen when years of experience meet a love for the product and a spirit of innovation. For over 125 years, Dreidoppel has stood for outstanding flavour expertise and has continuously invested in its employees, new technologies and buildings. With a new high-performance spray drying plant, Dreidoppel is expanding its technological capabilities and setting new quality standards in the powder flavour segment, which are marketed under the SprayDREI brand.
Spray drying is a precise and reproducible process in terms of uniform particle size distribution, controlled moisture level, bulk density, particle shape and dispersibility. Liquid flavours are embedded in maltodextrin, a carbohydrate-based carrier substance. This produces storage-stable, powdered flavours that are ideal for further processing in powdered foods such as custard powders or baking mixes. With the new spray drying plant, Dreidoppel is now achieving even better results in terms of quality, homogeneity, timing and quantities:
Ideal and reproducible emulsion fineness and stability
Optimal flavour encapsulation, low flavour loss
Flexible particle sizes
Wide standard portfolio (including kosher, halal, allergen-free)
Customised developments with low minimum quantities
The standard portfolio includes SprayDREI flavours such as vanilla, chocolate and caramel, a wide range of fruits and many other taste varieties. The spray-dried powder flavours are suitable for flavouring various foods – from baked goods and cereals to dairy products, confectionery and sports nutrition.
In configuring the production plant at the Langenfeld site, great importance was paid to efficiency, hygiene, sustainability, environmental protection, occupational safety and user-friendliness. Operation of the plant is largely automated. For example, cleaning of the plant is also carried out using an automated CIP (Cleaning in Place) system. The technically unavoidable exhaust air is treated by a regenerative cleaning system. Naturally, all legal requirements are complied with and the necessary resources are used environmentally friendly. Another plus: this cleaning system virtually eliminates odour nuisance from fragrances in the vicinity of the production plant.
“The new SprayDREI spray drying standard stands for powder flavours that meet the highest global standards. We combine our decades of flavour expertise with state-of-the-art technology: high quality, efficient and sustainable. This strengthens our competitiveness and our Langenfeld-based site, where we are also creating new jobs,” emphasises Managing Director Christian Blum.
The Dreidoppel sales team advises industrial customers on this modern spray drying process, which is used for an extensive SprayDREI flavour range, for individual flavour developments or for contract manufacturing.
